NATHCITOCHES PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - On Saturday night, at approximately 10:15pm, Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a reported medical emergency at the Cane River Apartments located in Cloutierville, La.

Deputies say when they arrived on the scene, they learned that the elderly female fell in her bedroom, and when she yelled for her son's help, he allegedly told her he was too tired to help her.

Deputies also learned when the elderly woman began to scream for help, Hernandez covered his mother's mouth preventing her calls for help.

Michael Anthony Hernandez, 43, of Cloutierville, was arrested and charged with 1-count of Cruelty to the Infirm, according to NPSO.

Neighbors heard the woman's screams for help and contacted another son, who also lived nearby.

That son responded to assist his mother.

Natchitoches EMS Paramedics also responded to the scene.

Deputies say paramedics treated the woman for a contusion to the rear of her head.

During the incident, deputies also interviewed other concerned neighbors.

Hernandez is also wanted by the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office on a outstanding warrant.

Hernandez remains in the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center awaiting bond.
