The new business and school week started with pleasant weather on this Monday.
Lows temps this morning ranged from the upper 40s to the middle 50s. Winnfield and Jena shared the honor of having the lowest temperature with 48 degrees. DeRidder bottomed out at 56 degrees while Opelousas and Anacoco reported 54. This is well above the long-term daily average of 43 degrees. The record is a cold 16 set in 1968.
Clouds held most afternoon highs in the 60s; however, Ville Platte and Natchez, Miss. hit 70 degrees. Pitkin and Gum Springs only made it up to 62 degrees. Thise is near the benchmark of 65 but well below the record of 83 set in 2011.
A warm front will move northward from the Gulf of Mexico Tuesday. This will add moisture to the atmosphere and the result will be more rain Tuesday into Wednesday morning.
