Man arrested after rear-ending a school bus

PINEVILLE, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - On Feb. 25, 2014 at 6:40a.m., Pineville Police Department, Pineville Fire Department and Acadian Ambulance responded to the 3900 block of LA 28 East for an accident involving a school bus.

According to PPD, preliminary investigation indicates that a Rapides Parish School Bus was stopped with the red indicator lights activated and stops signs extended at Pinetrace Apartment Complex with children loading.

The driver of a Ford F150, Anthony Phillips, 31, of Pineville, failed to stop and crashed into the rear of the school bus. Eight children were transported by Ambulance to local Hospitals with minor injuries, said PPD. All eight children have been released from the hospital, as of 1:44pm. 

During the investigation it was discovered that Mr. Phillips was in possession of a reported stolen firearm.

PPD said Phillips was arrested for Reckless Operation of a Vehicle and Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearms.
