NATCHITOCHES PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's deputies arrested a Chestnut man on felony theft and drug charges in connection with a stolen All Terrain Vehicle in Red River Parish, according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office.

On Dec. 4, 2014, NPSO detectives were contacted by a Red River Parish man reporting that he purchased a Honda ATV four-wheeler for approximately $500 that he later learned was stolen in Red River Parish.

Red River Parish Deputies recovered and took possession of the ATV at the purchaser's residence.

The Red River Parish man claimed that he attempted to regain his money but was unsuccessful.

NPSO Detectives were able to identify the man that sold the stolen ATV to the complainant as Brian Maurice Bonier, 32, of Chestnut, La.

As the investigation progressed, NPSO detectives said they established sufficient probable cause to secure a criminal warrant signed by a Tenth Judicial District Court Judge for Bonier's arrest.

On Monday evening, Feb. 25, 2014, deputies assigned to the NPSO Patrol Division were patrolling on La. Hwy 6 West near Interstate-49 when deputies familiar with Bonier observed him at a convenience store.

Deputies reported they were able to take Bonier into custody without resistance, and during a search of his person incidental to the arrest, they discovered suspected crystal methamphetamine and a smoking apparatus commonly used to smoke methamphetamine on Bonier's person.

At one point, deputies say Bonier asked them to just look away from his arrest.

Bonier was booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center and charged with 1-count of Felony Theft, 1-count of Possession of CDS Schedule II Crystal Methamphetamine-2nd Offense, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

State Probation and Parole Agents also placed a probation violation hold on Bonier.

Bonier was also out on bond on a December 2013 narcotics arrest in Red River Parish.

The vehicle Bonier was traveling in was impounded by a local wrecker.
