BOYCE, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - On Feb. 19, 2014, deputies responded to N. Bayou Rapides Road in Boyce, LA in reference to theft.

Upon arrival, deputies reported the victim stated he had received a call from neighbor asking if he had picked up a diesel engine block because it was gone.

The victim went to his property and found the Diesel engine was in fact gone.

The engine was located at a local scrap yard a short time later.

RPSO detectives began their investigation and one of the suspects was located later that same day.

Kenneth Edward Barton Jr., 18, of Elmer, was arrested for the theft of engine.

RPSO said the investigation revealed that Barton and another suspect, Luther Allen Hunter III, 18, of Alexandria, had scrapped the engine at a local scrap yard and allegedly had previously stolen some items from the same property.

Both Barton and Hunter were charged with 2 counts Theft and 2 counts Criminal Trespass.

Detectives say the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
