Teen survives 250 foot plunge

(NBC News) - A California teen is recovering after falling nearly 250 feet down a steep ravine Tuesday.

Tyler Grandy suffered a head injury and cuts to his legs -- which are considered moderate injuries -- but he is expected to survive. The teen was alert as he was airlifted out of the Foresthill canyon.

"I'm grateful that he's resilient and bounces like a ball," said Mary Grandy, Tyler's mother.

A Foresthill firefighter was lowered down the hillside and connected Grandy to a rescue harness before he was able to be lifted up.
