Fewer Federal Air Marshals Are In The Skies

Posted: Updated:

The Department of Homeland Security has cut the number of federal air marshals on commercial flights over the past three years.

An internal email obtained by Cable News Network says fewer plain-clothed officers are now protecting aircraft from terrorists. A budget reduction from 966-million-dollars to 805-million is being blamed for the move.

The D-H-S  is reducing the staff through attrition but declined to say how many federal air marshal positions have been eliminated.
