Round Five of Winter Weather

Posted: Updated:

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - It was another icy day, causing problems on the ground and in the air and leaving many in Cenla more than slightly annoyed at the winter weather.

Mother Nature has not been kind to the South this winter.

"Aggravated, stressed, nervous anxiety."

While Louisianians are used to a nice warm spring, a hot summer, and not winter – this year they are getting cold, wet and icy.

"No, I actually hate it. I prefer the snow, but not the ice and sleet and all that," said Kenneth Sepulvado.

But the ice is not just a slight inconvenience. With parts of I49 closed during the morning, Petta Kirby had trouble getting to work in Shreveport.

"So I am looking around town, I am not familiar with this town and trying to find a convenient road to get to Shreveport," said Kirby.

But she is not only concerned with how to get there... She's also concerned about the roads being safe.

"Up there they are used to driving in ice and everything, but around here you never know what the weather is going to be. Just sick and tired of the winter."

Not only is the weather affecting things on the ground, but in the air as well. George Bryant is also trying to travel, but due to the ice, his flight is cancelled until Wednesday.

"Trying to get to Malaysia and they have canceled to flights of mine already so they are not going to be happy that I can't get to work," said Bryant.
