RAIN RETURNS (AGAIN)

Posted: Updated:

Although temperatures today were well below normal, at least it wasn't as cold as Tuesday. Thermometers overnight stayed steady around central Louisiana as lows fell into the 30s. Winnfield, Ville Platte, and Natchez, Miss. all touched the freezing mark. Many readings in the middle 30s were reported. The 30-year daily benchmark is 45 degrees and the record is 25 in 1960.

Clouds held afternoon temperatures about 15-20 degrees below normal, yet the numbers were higher than yesterday. Pitkin, Fullerton, and Aloha stayed at 47 degrees while Natchez, Miss. hit 55 degrees. The long-term daily average is 68 and the record is 85 in 1905.

Light rain returned to central Louisiana during the afternoon and increased by evening. The rain will continue off and on during the night and will even linger into Thursday.
