Suspect from previous burglary re-arrested on more charges

BOYCE, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - On Feb. 20, 2014, Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office deputies from the BoyceSub-station responded to the area of Hwy 8 and Cleco Landing Rd. in referenceto a burglary, according to RPSO. 

Deputies said they made contact with the complainant who stated hiscamp was broken into and several items were stolen.

The complainant stated thattwo older model outboard motors were stolen along with a Honda 4-wheeler. On Feb. 25, detectives assigned to the case located one of thestolen outboard motors at a local business in Alexandria. 

Informationobtained by detectives led to a suspect, identified as JohnnyEllison Bennett Jr., 19, of Pineville. 

Bennett had been arrested onFeb. 21  by detectives for Burglary and Criminal Damagein another case and was in the Rapides Parish Detention Center. 

Duringthe course of the investigation, detectives reported they were also able to locate ninechecks that Bennett allegedly forged and cashed over the period of a month at alocal convenience store totaling a sum of $4,574. 

Warrants were obtainedfor Bennett for one count of Theft Over $1500 and nine counts of Forgery inthis investigation. 

Detectives contacted Bennett atthe jail where he was arrested and booked on Criminal Damage to Property,Simple Burglary, Theft < $500 and Criminal Trespassing in relation to thecamp burglary, RPSO said. 

Bennett was also arrested on the theft and forgerycharges.  Bennett remains in jail and detectives say more charges arepossible in this investigation.
