LSUA grad publishes first novel

ALEXANDRIA, LA – Ashley Weaver, a 2007 graduate of LSU ofAlexandria, is adding the title of author to her resume as the English major's firstnovel will be published this fall. 

Murder at theBrightwell is a mystery novel set at a seaside resort in 1930's England. Itincludes mystery, history and a little romance.

Weaver says she initially wrote the book for fun, butfriends and family encouraged her to have it published.  She eventually signed with an agent andlanded a book deal with Thomas Dunne Books. 

A writer since a young age, Weaver says she always admiredthe ability of novelists to create new worlds and introduce memorablecharacters who readers get to know and love.

According to Weaver, the education she received at LSUAhelped her achieve this dream. 

"The beautiful campus, the first-rate education, and thefriendships I developed made it a wonderful experience all around. My degreewas in English, and the encouragement I received from my professors only servedto increase my love of literature and writing," says Weaver.

After graduating from LSUA, Weaver received a Master ofLibrary and Information Science degree from LSU in 2011 and is employed as alibrarian in Allen Parish. Additionally, she is currently working on the secondbook of a four book contract.

Murder at theBrightwell will be published on October 14th and be availableonline and in bookstores. It is currently available for pre-order
