AMOA Opens New Exhibit

Posted: Updated:

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5)--The Alexandria Museum of Art has opened its Dueling Visions of Liberty Exhibit.

The exhibit features art from and about the Civil War. It shows the political, regional and racial viewpoints from that era. The exhibit includes paintings, photographs and sculptures  that depict that era of American history.

"Most of us know history through our history books. Really the better way to know the whole picture of history is to investigate the artwork of the time and the literature of the time. By observing what is happening in these art forms you really get a more complete picture of history."

This is the first year for the Dueling Visions of Liberty Exhibit at the museum.
