Boyce Teen Killed in Crash

RAPIDES PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) Louisiana State Police responded to a single vehicle crash that killed a teenager from Boyce and injured twoothers.

Troopers responded to the crash, which occurred on LA Hwy 488 west of Alexandria, around 7:15 p.m. on March 12, 2014. 

The crash involved a 1995 GMC pickup,driven by Andrew M. Juneau, 20, of Boyce. 

The GMC was westboundon LA Hwy 488 when Juneau lost control and exited the right side of theroadway, according to LSP. 

After exiting the roadway, the vehicle began overturning andcollided with a large tree.

Hereceived moderate injuries and was transported to Rapides Regional TraumaCenter. 

LSP reported Derek J. Stanley, 18, of Boyce and Brandon L. Ward, 18, of Otis, were passengers in Juneau's vehicle. 

It is unknown if Juneau or Ward were wearing seatbelts. 

Stanley was wearing his seatbelt, butwas pronounced dead.

Routine toxicology tests and charges are pending. 

The crashremains under investigation.

While not all crashes are survivable, seatbelts can greatlydecrease the occupant's chance of death and will greatly reduce the extent ofinjury.

Troop E Troopers have investigated 13 fatal crashes in 2014,resulting in 15 fatalities.
