"Strong Man" speaks out against bullying

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB NewsChannel 5) - Students at Horseshoe Drive Elementary School got a lesson aboutbullying Friday from a man who says he's been there.

Now "strong man"Steve Carrier is bending steel rods and ripping phone books while telling kidsto be buddies, not bullies.

Carrier says he grew upwearing leg braces, but overcame the odds to follow his dreams of being aworld-class athlete.

His accomplishments now include holding a Guinnessworld record for breaking baseball bats—and traveling the country with hismessage.

"Kids need to dream big,make the right choices," said Carrier. "And I always say this: if you listen tothe right voices, you will make the right choices. So, choose to believe infriends that believe in you and will encourage you, and not take you down apath of destruction."

The public can catch Steve Carrier's show Friday,Saturday, and Sunday at Horseshoe Baptist Church.
