RAPIDES PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - It is time to move pastthe snowy winter and ice covered roads, and enjoy the great outdoors.
At the Kisatchie National Forest,people can finally put on some shorts and take off their jackets and enjoy KisatchieNational Forest Day.
"A chance to be outin nature and see the creation we have and what the good Lord gave us,"said Jonny Fryar, a wildlife biologist.
The event is part of CentralLouisiana's outdoor adventure festival, and for Perry Borders, he wants his BoyScouts to get away from the modern every day norm.
"They completelyforget about video games and computers and they don't even talk about it,"said Borders.
Whether it is hiking,yoga, kayaking, or paddle boarding, getting the family outdoors with spring inthe air means a fun time for some.
"Well we aredefinitely excited about spring coming. I think it is welcomed by a lot ofpeople because it is starting to be cooler, cooler meaning not as cold weather,"said Walker Higgins of Muddy Water Paddle Company.
One of the favoriteattractions is hiking to see the eagle's nest.
"These kids arehaving a blast today. They got to see an Eagle's nest and thanks to thewildlife people that are out there they got to see an up close picture of itthrough a camera."
The event at Kisatchie ispart of the First Annual Central Louisiana Outdoor Adventure Festival.
The festival continuesuntil the end of March.
