MANSURA, La. (KALB News Channel 5)--A rally was held in Mansura on Sunday. Concerned parents and students gave personal testimonies about the dangers of bullying and its impact on young lives.

It was in response to a student at Avoyelles High School who took his own life.  The group plans to enhance anti-bullying programs throughout Avoyelles Parish.

"We want to give awareness. We want to educate people, and we are making a little group to try and stop it. We are going to try to do everythin we can to take a stand," said Bully Busters Co-Founder Terrie Francois.

"I did it for everybody else who has been bullied and to shy to speak they can know I have been through it too. If they need anybody to talk to I am here, and I can help them for anything," Alexsis Francois, a student, said.

The group says it plans to discuss bullying awareness programs with the principals of Avoyelles High and Plaucheville Elementary School today.
