Grant Parish man arrested after stand off

GRANT PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - A Grant Parish man was arrested for false imprisonment and several other charges.

The Grant Parish Sheriff's Office received a call on the morning of March 17, 2014 about a mother and 5 children being held against their will. 

After a stand off that lasted several hours, Russell Hoffpauir II was arrested for a number of charges.  

After securing the scene,  it was discovered that Hoffpauir had an assault rifle with hundreds of rounds of armor piercing bullets, a shotgun, pistol, a tactical vest that was filled with ammunition and a very large knife, GPS, and other tactical equipment. 

Russell Hoffpauir II, 35, of Montgomery, was arrested for False Imprisonment with Dangerous Weapons (6 counts), Domestic Abuse Aggravated Assault with Child Endangerment (6 counts), and Illegal Carrying of a Weapon while Committing a Violent Crime. 

He was booked into the Grant Parish Detention Center and a bond was set in the amount of $250,000.
