LEAP testing begins

Posted: Updated:

RAPIDES PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - Leap testing begins Tuesday for some local students.

Fourth and eighth grade students will take the math constructive response and writing portions of the test. Both students and teachers have been preparing all year long for this test, as the Louisiana Department of Education uses the scores to evaluate school districts across the state.

"We are graded according to our children's test scores so it's extremely important that they put forth their best effort and that they do well on their tests," said D.F. Huddle Elementary Principal Sylvia Adkins. "It pretty much tells what we have done all year."

Here are some pointers for parents to make sure your kids are ready for the leap test tomorrow: make sure the kids go to bed on time, make sure they are at school on time, and make sure they eat a good breakfast.
