Radio Maria Kicks Off Spring 'Mariathon'

Posted: Updated:

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5)--Radio Maria is back at it - this year's spring "Mariathon" is going on now.

Until Saturday afternoon, Radio Maria is asking listeners and supporters across the country to pledge or donate. Radio Maria does no advertising and receives no grants, so it's this fundraising that allows them to stay on the air. And during this event, they're hoping for $150,000 in pledges and donations.

"These are the only two times a year that we really focus on support. So if we don't get our suuport at this time, it's very hard to get it the rest of the year. So it's really our bread and butter. This is what keeps us going. And our listeners are always generous. God provides through them for all that we need," Father Robert Young said.

To donate, call the number on your screen or visit their website at www.radiomaria.us.
