New Theme Park Planned For Katrina-Ravaged Area

Posted: Updated:

Louisiana developers say they're ready to transform an abandoned Six Flags theme park into a vibrant multi-use area.

There is little left of what used to be Jazzland before the hurricane hit nearly nine years ago. Six Flags has since turned the land over to the city, but now residents say they're tired of looking at the eyesore.

This week T-P-C NOLA submitted a proposal to city officials to reopen the site as "Jazzland."
Their plan includes a water park, movie theater, and much needed shopping area. T-P-C NOLA will have to raise 50 million dollars to build the water park.

No word yet what timetable the development company is looking at.
