Cases Of TB Hit All-Time Low

Posted: Updated:

The number of tuberculosis cases in the U-S has hit an all-time low. A new report from the CDC shows a 4-percent decline in cases between 2012 and 2013.

Although the lung infection is rare, the CDC  says some populations are more at risk than others. TB is higher in some minority groups and among those born in foreign countries.

Although the number of drug-resistant cases remains relatively small, it's a concern because drug-resistant TB is difficult and costly to treat and more often fatal.
