Four arrested in Rosepine runaway investigation

VERNON PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) A joint by the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office and the Rosepine Police Department has led to four arrests.

According to VPSO Sheriff Sam Craft, Leah Nicole Yancey, 17, of Rosepine, Skyler Wayne Van Patten, 18, of Rosepine, and Michael Anthony Maddox, 18, of Slagle were arrested on March 23. The arrests followed a report filed in Beauregard Parish regarding a runaway 12-year-old female on March 21, 2014.
 
The Rosepine Police Department and the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office located the missing juvenile and three suspects at a residence in the Rosepine area.
 
Leah Yancey was arrested and booked into the VPSO Jail on one count of Possession of Marijuana and one count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia with a bond set at $ 1000.00 per charge. Yancey did post bond and was released at the time of this release.
 
Skyler Wayne Van Patten was arrested and booked into the VPSO jail on one count of Possession of Marijuana, one count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and one count of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile with a bond set at $ 1000.00 per charge. Van Patten remains in the VPSO jail at the time of this release.
 
Michael Anthony Maddox was arrested and booked into the VPSO jail on two counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile with a bond set at $2500.00 per charge.
 
Detectives learned through further investigation that Michael Maddox had engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with the 12-year-old female on two occasions.
 
Michael Maddox was charged  with one count of Aggravated Rape and one count of Oral Sexual Battery with a bond set at $ 200,000.00.  Maddox remains in the VPSO jail at the time of this release.
 
The juvenile female was also arrested by the Rosepine Police Department and charged with one count of ungovernable and one count of runway. The juvenile was remanded to the custody of her parents.
