Gun found at Marksville High

*UPDATE 2:00 p.m.** According to the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Office, two weapons were found. Along with the pistol, a box cutter and a small amount of marijuana were found in a backpack.

Two juvenile students have been arrested in connection with the incident. 

One juvenile was charged with 2 counts Possession of a Firearm or Dangerous Weapon in a Firearm Free Zone. 

The other juvenile was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Principle to Carrying a FireArm in a Firearm Free Zone.

MARKSVILLE, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - According to the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Office, a gun was found on campus this morning at Marksville High School.

The gun was found during a routine security sweep by deputies. A teacher noticed some of the students in one of the classes acting suspiciously and notified the deputies. 

They searched the classroom and found an unloaded .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol in a container.

Investigators are interviewing students to find out who the gun belongs to.

At this time, classes are resuming as normal.
