RAPIDES PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) RPSO arrest man in burglary investigation.

The Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office has arrested a man for stealing large amounts of scrap metal and other items and selling them.

On March 24, 2014, deputies and detectives responded to burglary on Hopewell Rd. in the Plainview area. Items reported missing included welding leads, engine blocks, welding gauges, alternators, starters, and other materials containing stainless steel. RPSO said detectives developed a lead on Luke Rogers who was selling similar items on his Facebook page.

Deputies and Detectives from the Glenmora Substation located a vehicle registered to Rogers at his address and observed casings from welding leads and welding gauges in the bed of his truck. RPSO seized the vehicle and made contact with Rogers over the phone. Rogers met with detectives and admitted to taking the items from Hopewell Rd.

RPSO said photos were discovered of Rogers selling a large amount of scrap metal and other stolen items to a recycling yard in the Alexandria area.

Rogers was arrested and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center. He is currently being held on a $100,000.00 bond.
