By all accounts, it was a pleasant Sunday with morning lows cooler than normal and afternoon highs near seasonal averages.
Morning lows ranged through the 40s; however, a few locations fell into the 30s. Winnfield bottomed out at 37 degrees while Natchez, Miss. and Fairfield saw 39 on their thermometers. Marksville and the D.G. Hunter Power Plant in Alexandria stayed in the upper 40s. The long-term daily average is 50 degrees and the record is 32 in 1987.
Ample sunshine brought afternoon highs into the 70s. Bellwood reported the warmest reading at 78 degrees followed by Winnfield with 76. In contrast, Alexandria International Airport (AEX) and Natchez, Miss. only made it up to 70 degrees. The daily average is 74 and the record is 92 in 1946.
Monday will offer another pleasant day to begin the new week.
