Cenla Weekend Tornado Damage

BALL, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - Residents of one Ball neighborhood are still cleaning upafter a tornado ripped thru the area Friday night.

At least two homes sustained major damage on EastbrookTrace when the tornado struck. Luckily no one was inside the homes at the time.

One tree fell thru the roof of one of the homes destroying two bedrooms. Atanother home next door several trees fell on the roof causing damage.

Twostorage buildings nearby were also damaged when trees came crashing to theground in the storm.

The National Weather Service surveyed the damage thisweekend and confirmed that it was an EF-1 tornado that touched down. Theyestimate that wind speeds reached 110 miles per hour.  

The path of destruction stretches 200 yardswide and a mile and a half long. The also estimate that the tornado was only onthe ground for about a minute.

An EF-1 tornados is classified by having winds between 86and 110 miles per hour according to the Enhanced Fujita scale and is considereda weak tornado.
