Downtown Rocks again on April 4 and April 11

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - It's timefor DownTown Rocks. These popular spring concerts are hosted by the Cityof Alexandria and are held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the steps of City Hall.

The first concert featuring the music of Chris Ardoin & NuStepZydeko will be April 4.

The second concert will take place on April 11 and features thepopular band from Natchitoches, Johnny Earthquake and the Moondogs.

Both concerts are free events and 2 Reign Catering and Jack's Drinks andSmokes to Go will be vending for both concerts. The concerts take place nomatter the weather. If there is rain the event moves inside to Convention Hallfor the music and fun. 

Chris Ardoin is internationally known for his soulful vocals and musiccomposition. This accordionist is one of the artists that helped form nouveauZydeco – a fusion of traditional Zydeco, hip-hop, reggae and R&B. 

With his band NuStep Zydeko, Ardoin has performed in all 50 states andthroughout Europe and South America.  He has appeared in stage plays andmovies and is known for "breakout" attendance records from Louisiana Nightclubsto Carnegie Hall in New York City to Carnivale in South America. 

 Johnny Earthquake and the Moondogs was formed nearly 20 yearsago in Natchitoches by a group of friends getting together to pass a good timeat local parties. The group has since become one of the most requested showbands in the region.  This group features a 10 to 12 piece band performingrock, R&B, swing, funk, soul, Zydeco and country music.
