NPSO deputies arrest Texas fugitive during domestic disturbance

NATCHITOCHES PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - A Natchitoches man wanted by Texas authorities since 2012was arrested by Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Deputies during a domesticdisturbance on Tuesday morning according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff'sOffice.

On Tuesday morning April 1, 2014 at approximately9:45 a.m., deputies assigned to the NPSO Patrol Division responded to a reporteddomestic disturbance involving a man and a woman at a residence in the 100block of Pecan Court,  in Cedar GroveSub-Division, near Natchitoches.

Deputies said upon their arrival and coming in contactwith both parties involved in the disturbance, they noticed visible marks andwounds on the female.

Deputies also observed two small children in theresidence, according to NPSO.

Deputies said while talking with the male suspect, heinitially stated that there was no problem, that he and his girlfriend had onlybeen involved in a verbal altercation.

Deputies also interviewed the female victim, establishing sufficient evidence and probablecause to arrest:

Christopher S. Brooks, 28, of Natchitoches, was booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Centercharged with Domestic Abuse Battery, Domestic Abuse Child EndangermentViolation.

Deputies said they also learned during a National Crime InformationCenter Criminal Background Check, that Brooks was wanted by the Collin County,Texas Sheriff's Office since October 2012 for Family Assault, and Retaliationon a Police Officer.

Brooks remains in the Natchitoches Parish DetentionCenter awaiting bond on Natchitoches Parish criminal charges. 

Brooks will be extradited to Texas pending aextradition hearing.

NRMC EMS Paramedics treated the victim at the scene forinjuries.

The case will be turned over to the Natchitoches ParishDistrict Attorney's Office for prosecution.
