Man struck by train in Ball

BALL, La (KALB News Channel 5) - A pedestrian walking along the railroad tracks near Ball Loop was struck by a train this morning.

Just before noon, the train was traveling north when it rounded a curve. The conductor reported seeing a man wearing headphones walking along the tracks.

The conductor applied his brakes and sounded his air horn, but the main did not move.

The train was unable to stop and struck him. The victim was thrown off the tracks.

When train personnel checked on the man, he was unconscious. 

They also stated they could still hear loud music playing from the man's headphones.

The victim is described as a white male, possibly in his early twenties.
