ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - It "Smelled Like Teen Spirit" this evening at Tamp & Grind in Alexandria.
Local band "Bombs Away" played a tribute concert in memory of dead rocker Kurt Cobain.
April 5th marks 20 years since the Nirvana front man killed himself.
But by all the fans who came out to see the local band play, it's clear his music lives on.
The local band says his music influences them as well.
"He did so much, not just for music, but at the time when Nirvana was really popular the whole music scene was changing. A lot of kids just didn't relate with what was going on in the music world and they were earthier and relatable. That's what drew people in," said Ben Bombs, singer for Bombs Away.
Nirvana was nominated for seven Grammy awards and won once.
