Vernon parish arrests Oakdale woman for bounced checks

VERNON PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) Sheriff Sam Craft of the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office announced the April 4, 2014 arrest of Karen Lafleur, 52, of Oakdale.

The arrest is a result of numerous reports received by the VPSO alleging that Lafleur issued approximately 21 checks which were returned to area businesses as insufficient, according to VPSO. 

VPSO stated Lafleur was also a person of interest in an investigation into the issuing of a check to a local business on a closed bank account.

Lafleur was transported to Vernon Parish from the Sabine Parish Detention Center where she is currently incarcerated on unrelated charges.

Lafleur was arrested and booked into the Vernon Parish Jail on 21 counts of Issuing Worthless checks and one count of Theft, VPSO reported.  Total bond was set at $ 11,000.00.

Lafleur was transported back to the Sabine Parish Detention Center with a detainer for the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office.
