What wonderful weather for a Wednesday!
The day began with an unseasonal chill as lows fell into the 30s and 40s. Winnfield crated to 34 degrees with Fairfield at 35 and Jena 36. Several weather watchers reported patchy frost. DeRidder, Bunkie, and Ville Platte stayed up at 42 degrees. These numbers were well below the long-term daily average of 53 degrees. The record low is 35 in 2003.
Uninterrupted sunshine and dry air turned temperatures around 30-40 degrees in most cases. Also, there was a large range in afternoon highs across the area. For example, Natchez, Miss. only reached 68 degrees while Many hit 80. The long-term daily average is 77 and the record is 89 in 1986.
Thursday promises to be a very nice day with comfortable conditions and a steady south or southwest wind.
