CHENEYVILLE, La. (KALB News Channel 5) On April 3, 2014, deputies assigned to the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office Metro Division conducted a traffic stop in Cheneyville for failure to wear a seatbelt.

The passenger in the vehicle, later identified as Todrick Hayes, 26, of Bunkie, gave deputies a false name.  Deputies said they eventually identified him and discovered he was a registered sex offender in Avoyelles Parish.

Hayes did not possess the proper identification card required by law to identify him as a Registered Sex Offender and was taken into custody and transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center, according to RPSO.

Upon arrival at the jail, deputies checked the passenger area, which is done after transporting each prisoner.

A clear plastic bag containing suspected powder cocaine was located in the back seat where Hayes was seated, RPSO said.

Hayes was booked on Possession of CDS II, Failure to Maintain Sex ID, and Resisting an Officer. He is currently being held on Parole Violations in addition to $7,750.00 bond.
