Rapides Parish Library Hosts First Community Health Fair

Posted: Updated:

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5)--The Rapides Parish Library hosted its first community health fair geared at getting the public more informed about services offered in the area.

Twenty different health care agencies were a part of the free program at the Fulton Hotel.  Visitors could receive a free blood pressure screening or find out more information about which local health care services and programs are available to them.

It's the first time the library has held the fair. they say the need was so great in the community. And, the community really responded well.

"There really is. It's just great that people are responding to it. But there is a need to find out different services that are available," Faith Johnson, a library worker, said.

The library says they were so pleased with the turnout that they plan to host another community health fair next year.
