CHENEYVILLE, La. (KALB News Channel 5) -- Crystal Hoyt has shared the stage with country music stars like Miranda Lambert and Big and Rich.  She has also gone on tour for three years with Toby Keith.

Now Hoyt has traveled back to her hometown of Cheneyville to a crowd she never expected.

"This has been amazing," said Crystal Hoyt, local singer now living in Nashville. "I had no idea this was going to be taking place to this extent."

Hoyt expected a normal trip back home to spend some time with family and maybe sing a few songs. But Crystal's father, Hines Hoyt, turned the family get together into a hometown concert.

"It is just fun," said Hines Hoyt, Crystal's father. "I mean it is just fun to invite all your friends and have everybody get together.  It is a big homecoming."

Crystal moved to Nashville, Tn at the age of 19, where she joined a band called Trailer Choir. After her stent with the band, she decided to go solo. Now she is part of a duo called Secondhand Soul, and Cheneyville was one of the first to hear the duo's new music.

"We just want to play good music and people seem to respond to it," said Crystal Hoyt. "It is what our philosophy has been, and what people are responding to now."
