NOPD Officer arrested, facing 38 child pornography charges

Mandeville, LA. (KALB News Channel 5) — A New Orleans Police Department officer is behind bars for possessing child pornography, according to Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell.

Bradley Wax, 54, of 20 Camden Court in Mandeville, was arrested on April 23 and charged with 38 counts of pornography involving juveniles. The arrest is a result of a joint investigation involving the Attorney General’s Cyber Crime Unit, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security Investigations.

An online undercover operation led investigators to conduct a search warrant on Wax’s residence in January. Investigators conducted a forensic analysis on computers and other electronic devices and found Wax guilty of possessing child pornography.

According to a press release from the Attorney General's Office, Wax was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail without incident, and if convicted, he faces 20 years in prison on each count of child pornography.

Caldwell said with internet crimes on the rise, the Attorney General's Office is increasing their resources to monitor, arrest, and prosecute online child predators. He said the Attorney General’s Cyber Crime Unit has investigated thousands of computer crimes victimizing children from infants to 17-years-old.
