Puppy slapped in viral video up for adoption

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - A very special dog that got a rough start to life got the chance at a new beginning.

Fame, the puppy seen slapped by a teen in a February viral video, was up for adoption.

Fame is a medium sized, mixed terrier.

He was seen by a vet after being hit and now he's in good shape and ready for a new home.

The Alexandria Animal Shelter held its monthly Pet Adoption Day and it was the first time Fame was being shown to the public.

"It is here today, it is available. So if people are interested in it they can come out and look at the little puppy. Well it is not a little puppy anymore because that happened awhile back. It is still a nice dog, we have had all of the shots done she has been spayed. I think the only thing they would need to do is take it to the vet for a follow up visit,” said Henry Wimbley, with the animal shelter.

Fame wasn't adopted; she'll next be shown on Monday.

The teen that slapped the puppy was charged with animal cruelty.
