Construction to begin on Purple Heart Bridge

RAPIDES PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) Road and lane closures to begin during construction on US 167, Purple Heart Bridge - US 165, Rapides Parish, La.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), said construction work will begin May 15 on the entry and exit ramps of US 167 (Pineville Expressway) between US 165 and the Purple Heart Bridge. The work will include concrete pavement patching, pavement crack sealing and related construction.

DOTD said it expects construction to last four months, and the public should be aware of lane and ramp closures during that time. DOTD said daytime closures will only occur during the weekends.

The first portion of work will begin on the entry ramp connecting US 165 (Monroe Hwy) to the US 167 Southbound Roadway (Pineville Expressway) in Kingsville, LA (in front of K-Mart). The ramp will be closed on the evening of May 8 at 10 p.m. through 5 a.m. on May 9. The ramp will be closed again on May 9 at 10 p.m. through 5 a.m. on May 12.
