UPDATE: Arrest made in donation jar theft

PINEVILLE, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - On April 22, 2014, deputies responded to a call at the Pit Stop convenience store on Donahue Ferry Road in reference to a donations jar being stolen.

When deputies arrived, the suspect was gone. 

RPSO stated the donation jar was placed there to offset the medical expenses for a mother of five with cancer. 

Detectives began their investigation and through video from the store surveillance camera, they identified the subject to be a Charles Fredrick Monette, 50, of Pineville. 

On May 5, 2014, detectives arrested Monette on a warrant for Theft >$500 from a Aged or Disabled Person.

Monette remains in the parish jail on a $2500.00 bond.

Detectives would like to extend their appreciation to the Pit Stop for their assistance in this case.
