Monroe man pleads guilty in 2012 Rayville slaying

RAYVILLE, La. (AP) - A 25-year-old Monroe man has pleaded guilty in Rayville in the death of a man in December 2012.

District Attorney Mack Lancaster tells The News-Star ( ) Jesty Reese pleaded guilty to manslaughter and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

Reese and Cody Reynolds of Rayville were charged in the shooting death of Brandon Johnson on Dec. 16, 2012.

Lancaster said Reese and Reynolds had intended to rob Johnson at his Rayville home. During the attempt, Reese shot Johnson twice in the abdomen and Johnson died a short time later.

Reese will be sentenced on June 25.

Lancaster says Reynolds' case is still pending.
