CLTCC announces 2014 graduate pinning ceremony

Posted: Updated:
ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) — Central Louisiana Technical Community College (CLTCC) is pleased to announce Pinning Ceremonies for the 2014 graduation candidates enrolled in the college’s Practical Nursing, Patient Care Technician, Certified Nursing Assistant and Pharmacy Technician programs.

The Pinning Ceremonies will be held at various locations on May 8, May 13 and May 15 (see dates, locations and times below).  Family and friends are invited to attend.

CLTCC’s nursing and allied health departments conduct ceremonies yearly prior to graduation to honor the soon-to-be graduates.  Faculty members will “pin” each student with a specially designed pin that serves as a symbol of their accomplishment.  Pinning is a tradition in the nursing field.  The recitation of the Florence Nightingale Pledge and lighting of a candle are also elements of the Practical Nursing Pinning Ceremony.

“We are proud of these students and grateful for the opportunity to add skilled individuals to the nursing field,” said Dr. Rodney Ellis, CLTCC chancellor.  “These students have been trained well, and they have worked with professionals at clinical sites to acquire real-life hands-on experience.  They will fill essential positions in the healthcare profession, which will benefit hospitals, nursing homes, urgent care centers and physician offices throughout our communities.”
