LECOMPTE, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - On April 5, 2014  at approximately 6:30 p.m., deputies responded to a disturbance at the Good Will Apartments in Lecompte.

The original complainant, identified as Tarenishia Nelson, 21 of Lecompte, stated another family member attempted to take her child from her and there was an altercation between her and the family member, according to RPSO.

Upon further investigation, deputies said they discovered Nelson had committed a battery on her 4 year old daughter and that is why the family member had attempted to take the child.

Detectives also responded to the scene to conduct their investigation into allegations of another child of Nelson’s having a battery committed on her, RPSO stated.

Through their investigation, detectives developed enough probable cause to place Nelson under arrest.

Nelson was arrested 2 counts of Cruelty to Juveniles and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center.

Bond has been set at $1500.00.  The children are in the care of family members after being checked out at a local hospital.

Detectives have also notified Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services.
