A MUGGY DAY - KALB-TV News Channel 5 & CBS 2

Posted: Updated:
Persistent southerly breezes for several days finally brought the humidity today to the "muggy" category.

Morning lows reflected the high humidity as readings only bottomed out in the upper 60s and the lower 70s. Simmesport was the cool spot with 68 degrees, with Opelousas, Atlanta, Marksville, Winnfield, and Colfax close behind with 69. Thermometers at DeRidder, Fort Polk, Bellwood, Fullerton, and Esler Airport stayed at 73 degrees. The daily average is 61 and the record is 43 in 1992.

Afternoon highs climbed into the 80s despite several layers of clouds. Simmesport hit 87 degrees while Atlanta stayed at 81. The daily average is 84 and the record is 91 in 2003.

A few sprinkles were noted over much of the area. The weather pattern favors widespread rain and thunderstorms late Thursday night through Friday afternoon. Many of you should get beneficial rainfall.
