"Make the Grade" car giveaway

Posted: Updated:
ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) -- One lucky student won a brand new car this weekend for making good grades.

All Star Automotive held a drawing for finalists for the "Make the Grade" contest.

Thirteen high school students from Rapides Parish school participated and one student won the use of a new Scion TC for two years.

All high school students in Rapides Parish that made an "A" were eligible.

The event was a way to recognize students for their hard work in the classroom.

"You know Rapides Parish is a great place to live, great place to work," said Clint Murphy, general manager. "A lot of times people graduate from high school and move on because they don't think there is opportunities here, lots of opportunities in Rapides Parish.  Lots of growth and a great place to raise the family. We wanted to promote that, doing good in school and also have an opportunity to plug Rapides Parish."

Reese Ryland from Buckeye High School was this year's winner.
