Murder victim's father looking for answers about her death

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - "We just want to know why." That's the question the family of 33-year-old Pamela Carnahan is still trying to find an answer to.

On Friday, Carnahan was found murdered in her apartment at Chateau Deville on Lakeside Drive. Family found her body when she failed to pick up her 4-year-old daughter from school. As police continue to search for a suspect, Carnahan's father spoke with News Channel 5's Brooke Buford about his daughter and her death.

"Let me put it this way, it's one of those things that's not supposed to happen to you," said Robert Heimbach, Carnahan's father. "It always happens to somebody else. When it happens to you, it's unreal."

Robert Heimbach says his family is taking the news of his daughter, Pamela's, murder hard.

"Very hard," he said. "She was such a gifted person. She loved her family."

On Friday, Carnahan wasn't there to pick her daughter up from school. The school called Carnahan's family and when her husband got home to the apartment, he found her dead.

"They unlocked the door to see if she was in there or if she wasn't in there," he said. "They went and got her husband, Daniel, and he opened the door and that's when they found her."

Alexandria Police won't say how Carnahan died. As of Tuesday afternoon, police still had no suspect.

"Our investigators have worked around the clock since day one interviewing witnesses and working with crime scene and collecting evidence," said Lt. Bruce Fairbanks with the Alexandria Police Department. "At this point in the investigation, we feel it's an isolated incident and hopefully we'll have it resolved shortly."

As police continue with their investigation, Carnahan's father, a former Pineville police office, has questions of his own.

"I'd just like to know why," said Heimbach. "What's the motive? She had no money. She was no beauty queen. She was beautiful in my eyes. There's no reason."
