APD makes drug bust during traffic stop in Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - On May 15, 2014, at approximately 7:53 p.m., Alexandria Police Department officers conducted a traffic stop on John M. Haynes, 37, of Alexandria, in the Chester & Hill Street area after observing the truck he was operating stopped at this location blocking traffic.

During the investigation, officers learned that Haynes was in possession of suspected marijuana, APD reported.

An APD K9 was requested by officers, and following a search of the vehicle, the suspected marijuana and some drug paraphernalia were located, according to APD.

Haynes was arrested without incident and transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center for booking. He was charged with one count Possession of CDS Sch I with Intent to Distribute, one count Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, one count Obstruction of Public Passage, one count improper Display of Plate, and No Insurance.
