NATCHITOCHES, La. (KALB News Channel 5) The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death a Texas woman whose body was found on La. Hwy 119 at the intersection of Wilson Basco Road, north of the Gorum community.

The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office 911 Center received a report about the body on May 16 around 6:50 a.m.
Deputies assigned to the NPSO Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division, Natchitoches EMS Paramedics and Natchitoches Parish Coroner’s Office responded to the scene.

Chief of Investigations Detective Greg Dunn said
preliminary findings and evidence at the scene led investigators to believe the woman died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The victim’s vehicle was found nearby.

The body has been sent for an autopsy, and Deputies are not releasing the victim’s name. Dunn said foul play is not suspected at this time, and the investigation is continuing.
