BATON ROUGE, La. (KALB News Channel 5) – On May 16, Dr. Bill Cassidy, U.S. Representative for the Sixth District of Louisiana and candidate for the U.S. Senate, spoke at the Disabled American Veterans Annual Meeting in Alexandria.

He spoke with the veterans about his work to get the proposed Lafayette and Lake Charles VA outpatient clinics finished and his efforts to reduce the suicide rate among our veterans.

Dr. Cassidy released the following statement:

"It is always an honor to meet the men and women who served and serve our nation in uniform. We owe our lives and our freedoms to them. We also owe them the best healthcare possible Unfortunately, too many of our men and women are returning home without access to the mental and physical health services they need and deserve. I'm committed to making sure our vets have access to the health care they need."

As part of his visit, Dr. Cassidy met with young ROTC students who comprised the color guard for the annual meeting.
