PINEVILLE, La. (KALB News Channel 5) — Pineville resident recognized by Acadian as EMT of the year.

Each year, Acadian Ambulance recognizes medics for their work ethic and dedication to their jobs. Karlo Rivera, a Pineville medic, was recently honored as a finalist for Acadian’s 2014 EMT of the Year.

According to Acadian, finalists are known as outstanding medics who display exemplary attitudes and provide excellent patient care. Rivera was nominated by his fellow medics to represent Acadian’s Central Louisiana operations, which include Evangeline, Avoyelles, Beauregard, Rapides, Allen, and Vernon parishes.

Rivera graduated from Northwestern State University in 2006, and then received his EMT-Basic certification from the National EMS Academy. He has been with Acadian for almost two years, and works on Unit 264 in Pineville.

“I am so honored to have been selected by my peers to represent them as the EMT of the Year,” Rivera said.  “I feel that it validates my career, and it motivates me even more to continue to serve the community to the best of my ability.”
