Improper lane usage traffic stop leads to thousand-dollar drug bust

(ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - On May 19, 2014, Alexandria Police Department officers conducted a traffic stop on a Black Honda Accord for Improper lane usage. The violation was observed on I-49 near exit 83.

Officers then made contact with the driver, identified as Jeremy Williams, 20, of Alexandria.

APD reported during the investigation, officers learned that suspected narcotics were in the vehicle.

Further investigation into the stop resulted in officers locating a handgun and suspected Marijuana, Xanax, Hydrocodone and Crack Cocaine having a combined street value of approximately $2000.00.

Jeremy Williams was arrested without incident and transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center for booking. He was charged with one count each of Possession of Firearm W/Drugs, Poss/Dist of Sch I Drug, Poss/Dist of Sch III Drug, Poss/Dist of Sch IV Drug, Dist/Manf Sch II Drug, Improper Lane Usage and No Driver's License.

Two other occupants were in the vehicle with Williams and released.
